Exported 1,713,000 Tons, Including 1,491,000 Tons for China
It was known that Turkey exported 1,713,581.5 tons of chrome ore in the calendar year ( January - December ) of 2009, having decreased by 5.3% compared with that ( 1,809,480.9 tons ) in the preceding calendar year of 2008.
For a reference, Turkey exported 195,275.4 tons of chrome ore in December of 2009, which increased by 12.9% compared to that ( 172,936.6 tons ) in the previous month of November. It was anticipated that, as a reaction to the largest quantity of chrome ore in its history exported from Turkey in the preceding year of 2008, this country was supposed to decrease their exports of chrome ore in 2009 for other countries than China. The actual exports in 2009 had a decline as forecasted.
However, Turkey exported 1,491,778.1 tons of chrome ore for China in the calendar year of 2009, which had a considerable increase of 39.8% compared with that ( 1,066,824 tons ) in the preceding year of 2008, and this substantial increase of the exports for China diluted a depression of the exports for other countries.
Although the total quantity of chrome ore imported by China in 2009 is estimated to decrease by 7% from that in 2008, Turkey and South Africa have established their position as supplier of base ore. |
